In the height of
the First Age, the Exalted created many wonders, the likes of which the
world had never seen, and would not likely see again. One such
wonder was the city called Heaven Manor. A floating city, hovering
over the Inland Sea, between the parched lands of the southern desserts,
and the magnificent centre of Creation, the Blessed Isle. Heaven
Manor was a towering beacon of the power and majesty of the Solar
Deliberative, a haven of art, technology and science. In it's
heyday, Heaven Manor's many adamant glass towers soared high into the
sky, reaching towards the holy Sun. Rain never fell upon this
wonderous city, nor did wind ever bother her residents. Each and
every day was as perfect and pristine as the last. That is, until
the Userpation. Over the course of a century, the Dragon-Blooded foot
soldiers of the Exalted host hunted down and slew their Solar masters.
It was after this time, that the great engines that kept the city of
Heaven Manor aloft failed... and the great city plummeted into the sea.
That was 2,000 years ago.
Three months ago, an expedition of Solar Exalted, reborn and brimming
with the power they once held in the First Age, came upon the city of
Heaven Manor. Five Solars, and a small contingent of loyal
Dragon-Blooded allies, entered the vast city, determined to bring the
city back to the skies. There was a problem, however. When
the Circle began the start-up of the now "repaired" engines of the city,
something most unexpected happened. Rather than lifting the
sky-city back to it's rightful place, the engines backlashed, tearing
the city, and much of the surrounding underwater landscape, out of the
world of it's origin. Now, the city Heaven Manor, floats through a black
chaos, a void between worlds. Stranger still, the gateways, which
once linked Heaven Manor to many points around the world, are not all
working as they should. Some still return the user to their proper
location in Creation. Others failed all together. Others,
still, seem to have opened their doorways in other worlds, worlds beyond
the boundaries of the Void.
Welcome, to Heaven Manor. It is a peaceful city, situated in the
Void, and lorded over by the five Solar Exalted that first reclaimed the
city. The layout is both artistic, and efficient at once, a marvel of
architectural design. Heaven Manor is divided into five sections,
which ascend into many layers.
Recreation Quarter - The Recreation Quarter is the western quarter of
the city. Within it's boundaries once stood some of the most
amazing facilities for recreation one might imagine. From
brothels, to public baths. From theatres to arena's, the
recreation quarter had it all. At present, one brothel has been
reopened and is run by Mistress Ophelia, though most of the inns, also
located in this sector, employ a few prostitutes of their own. One
theatre has been reopened, as well, run by a silver-tongued elven bard
by the name of Lysus. The Hanging Gardens also make their home in
this sector. The final great masterpiece in this location is the
Library, which also played as a school in the cities heyday. The
Library has become active, once more, and it's spirit guides have
reawakened, to aide those in search of information. There are
three manses located within the Recreation District, all but one
currently occupied by civil Exalts. Patrols in this district can
be mortal, Chosen, or small gods.
Residential Quarter - The residential quarter is located directly beside
the recreation district, taking the northern quarter of the city.
Sweeping towers ascend into the sky, each one flaunting apartments that
span a whole floor, lavish and most well furnished. The
imperishable walls of the construction kept the water of the ocean at
bay, meaning these rooms are exactly as they were left. Each
apartment is attended by a servant of one type or another, ranging from
minor spirits, to mechanical constructs. Some of these attendants
have died over the years, so not all will have such a butler, but many
still do. These butlers, now reenergized with the cities
reactivation, have set to clearing out the rooms, to make ready for
their expected masters. The cities Aviary can be found in this
district, located in the northern wall of the city. Forty-eight
Warhawks, mechanical mounts shaped like giant birds, are available for
rent here, as are aerial skiffs, flying chariots, flying howdahs, and
other mechanized flight machines. There are two manses located in
the Residential District, both of which have been claimed by members of
the civil service. Only mortal and Chosen patrols walk the streets
of the residential quarter.
Commercial Quarter - In the eastern quarter of the city lies the
Commercial District. This portion of the city is home to two major
market-places, as well as warehouses and other storage facilities.
Both market places are currently in use, though only at a mere fraction
of their First Age capacity. The first is the Grand Market, where
anything large or bulk is brought for sale. This is the least used
market thus far, though it is growing, as those who have merely visited
return home to tell their friends and salesmen about the city in the
black. The second market, called the Flea Market, is home to all
small vendors. Here you can purchase things like jewelry, produce,
fresh meat, toys, smithed materials, and other such items. The
production facilities of most of the inhabitants also reside within the
commercial district. Two manses are located in this district, one
of which has been claimed by the civil Exalted. Every major entry
and exit to this quarter are guarded by Sentinel Golems, while the
actual walkways are patrolled by mortals and
Chosen.
Arms Quarter - Though the city is peaceful, there is still a need for
defense. The Arms Quarter is located in the southern end of the
city proper. Here, one will find the ancient Academy, a military
training facility. It has only been partially reopened by the
Dragon Defenders since the refounding of the city. The Arms
Quarter also houses the awe inspiring and massive Tenacious Directive
Factory Cathedral, a monument of magi-tech from the First Age, which is
currently being reworked to service and construct magi-tech of all
sorts. The Armory, a tremendous facility with nearly twenty
storage warehouses, all built around a central control station are also
within this district. The Arms Quarter is off limits to most
visitors, without a Dragon Defender escort. Even residents are
watched carefully while within this sector of the city. There are
six manses located in this portion of the city, all of which have been
claimed by the civil service. Chosen, small god, Sentinel Golem,
or other construct patrols are found in this sector. Mortal
patrols are unheard of here.
Central District - Effectively the "Downtown" of Heaven Manor, the
Central District is the city centre. The Central Parade grounds
are located here, around which all the major civil buildings of the
cities political infrastructure reside. Six mansions sit around
the western and northern edges of the city, which are currently occupied
by the Council, leaving one vacant at this time. At the eastern
edge resides City Hall, where the council meets with representatives of
the population, as well as visitors inquiring about residency, or any
political envoys. The southern edge of the Central District is
home to a Defender station, which acts as the central office for
resident and visitor alike to speak with representatives of the
Defenders. Finally, at the centre of the Parade, the tallest
building in the city at fifty stories, is the Chamber of the Sun's
Excellence, a temple built in honour of The Unconquered Sun, patron of
the Solar Exalted, and greatest of the Celestial Incarnate. This
is a site of worship for those who followed the Solars from Creation, as
well as any who would wish to convert to worship of The Unconquered Sun.
All the buildings within this district, save the Defender Station, are
Manses of one degree or another. All but one have been claimed.
Two Celestial Lions guard the central district. As well, every
major access point is flanked by a pair of mechanical statue guardians
that will come active if the peace is threatened.
The cities portal control centres are located around the ring wall of
the city itself. Only the southern district does not have a portal
centre. There are twenty four working stations at present.
Eight in each of the north, west and east quarters of the city.
Each gateway is guarded day and night. The exact guard type
present at each station vary widely, but include a mix of mortal Dragon
Defenders, Dragon-Blooded or Celestial guardians, and Sentinel Golems.
The city itself is inhabited by many beings. Some are void-formed,
sentient creatures, with forms they chose themselves. Some are
Fair Folk, creatures of chaos, whose hearts hold something very
different from their typical kind. Some are the residents of other
worlds, including a smattering of orcs, dwarves, elves, humans both
Creation born and from other worlds as well as more esoteric beings. The
city itself has more than 30,000 residents, many of whom accidentally
arrived in their new majestic home, and simply did not leave. The
city is surrounded by amazingly fertile land, which has already taken
root and begun to flourish, though the land only expands five miles
beyond the city walls. Past this point, the world drops off, into
the void. If it is your choice, you, too, are welcome to stay.
Welcome, to Heaven Manor.
In Character Rules
1. The Solar Council has final word in all situations. The council
is made up of the five Solar Exalted that reclaimed the city. The
list is as follows: Dar, the Rising Star of Unconquerable Might
Vargas, the Pillar of Righteousness
Nytal, the Mystic Ring
Uriel, the Ever Watching Eye
Wyss, the Guardian of Pacts
Their word is law.
2. Peace is a very important factor to most of residents of Heaven
Manor. Most of the residents stayed to escape the violence of
their homelands, or to escape prosecution based on race. Breaking
the peace by engaging in hostile actions with the residents of Heaven
Manor is a capital offence, with multiple forms of punishment available,
depending on the severity of the situation. These punishments
range from being "escorted" back through a portal, to being launched
into the black nothingness, to death, to magically enforced servitude.
This does not mean that one cannot defend oneself, but it does mean that
the instigator of any incident will be the one punished.
3. None may come to Heaven Manor and bring nothing with them. If
you are to be a resident of the city, you must do something.
Freeloading is not acceptable, and will result in the freeloader being
removed from the Manor.
4. Paying taxes to the city is not necessary, as the magic of the Solars
keeps the city in shape. However, those who do pay taxes have full
access to the amenities of the city. Running water, essence
lights, Dragon Defenders, as well as access to the
magi-tech wonders available from the hands of the Exalted.
5. The Dragon Defenders are the cities combination police force, fire
department and emergency medical staff. They are here to protect
the residents from violent visitors, as well as lend their aid to those
in need of their services. The first Dragon Defenders were the
Dragon-Blooded who came with the Council, as well as those who have come
into the fold in the following months. However, as the population
grows, more Defenders are always necessary. As such, the Defenders
are now accepting applicants from mortals to lend their aid,
6. A warning to those visiting. Special magical fields have been
erected in and around the city that suppresses magical power.
Those who wish to use their powers within Heaven Manor must apply to the
Council to be granted a bracer, with will exempt you from the magical
binding.
7. Certain areas of the city are off limits to visitors. These
sites are all under constant supervision by the Dragon Defenders.
Visitors may only enter off-limits sections with resident supervision.
These sites are as follows:
The Tenacious Directive Factory Cathedral (Cathedral)
The Chamber of the Sun's Excellence (Temple)
The Aviary of Heaven Manor
Any Manse located within the city walls.
8. Only members of the Dragon Defenders, or of the Council, may enter
the Armory. This is the base of operations for the Dragon
Defenders themselves, and as such is inaccessible to any but those
charged to defend Heaven Manor.
Out of Character Rules
1. The Room Controller and Moderator have final say in all aspects.
Any major disputes will be brought before either the Moderator
(SmileyTPB) or the Room Controller (The Almighty Turtleweed).
2. OOC garbage is to be left at the door. If you don't like
someone that's in the room, we really couldn't care less. Either
don't enter, or leave the crap at the door. OOC harassment will
gain a single warning. If the harassment continues, the harasser
will be booted. Period. If you prove yourself to be a
constant bother, you may well have your right to a single warning
revoked. Play nice, and you'll be just fine.
3. Child characters are not allowed. No ifs, ands or buts.
If your character is under the age of 18, it's not allowed here.
4. As was stated in the In Character Rules, no magic for non-members.
There is no way around this. All members will be listed by either
the RC or the MOD on the
messageboard. This list is viewable
by all, but only the MOD or RC can post there. If your name isn't
on the list, you are powerless.
5. Those who wish to become members of the city, must post a short bio.
We would rather not have under-developed characters playing here.
The city is meant for roleplay, after all. This bio must accompany
your application to join the room. Characters who are not members
may still play, may interact, may even say they have taken up residence
in the city proper. But unless you have your bio and application
in, you will not have access to any of the advantages of a full member.
Your bio will include the following:
Name
Age
Race
History (this can be as simple as "A farmer from Ireland" to a
multi-paragraph explanation of your characters exploits. We prefer
the latter, but it isn't necessary)
Powers (this is not optional. A full list of all abilities your
character has is a must. If you have none, list simply "None".
Any power you use that is not on this list will be considered null.
If you are found to be doing this on a regular basis, your room
membership will be revoked)
If your character uses a rule-set (Dungeons and Dragons, Exalted, Scion,
WoW, etc) you MUST provide a proper character sheet from that system.
This is non-negotiable.
6. Random storytelling may occur at any time. Storytellers will be
designated on the
Messageboard. If you are in the room when random
storytelling begins, you may well be pulled in. While I agree that
one should be allowed to determine what they want to play, that doesn't
mean you can ignore the world around you simply because you "aren't
interested". If you want to avoid a random storytelling session,
you will have to vacate the area the story is occurring in through RP.
While some people might not like this aspect to the room, it adds a
realness to the world we play in, and also helps bring players together
to form an actual community.
7. Yes, there is a Storytellers PD. No, this does not mean
you can story tell whenever you want. Only board-listed
Storytellers may randomly use this pulldown. This does not mean
that you can't use it, however. If a group of players wants you
to ST for them, then by all means. But you can only effect the
players that agreed to the RP, and may make no major changes to the
room. If you do desire to ST something, try to avoid RPs that will
force the Dragon Defenders to take action.
8. All site rules apply. Make sure you know them.
9. Ignorance of the rules is not a defense or an excuse. Read all
IC, OOC and site rules before entry. Thank you.
